A letter to the hospital....

Many of you know already about my amazing experience at the hospital where both of our children where born. This is a little report about my outstanding experience at the Tuomey Women’s Center.
I sent it to the Hospital and hopefully they will be able to print it in their  newspaper.

In 2010 the military brought my husband and me to Sumter, South Carolina where I soon gave birth to our first child.  While I was anxious about the unknown experience that was about to happen, my first impression of the women center couldn’t have been better.  From the moment I checked in I was surrounded by nice staff, which instantly gave me a certain feeling of safety and confidence.  Even though I am from Germany, I do not think I could have had a better birth experience there.  Why?  Because I had the best birth story ever!
The room I received was immaculate.  Very clean and comfortable combined with a homey feel to it.  I almost felt like in a hotel room on vacation.  What made my experience so unique however was not about the room or the high tech equipment, but all about the staff.  Two of them deserve special recognition.  Rhonda Witt and Stacey Pack put so much joy and enthusiasm into their work that I almost forgot about the pain I was in.  Those two nurses did not make me feel like a mere number on their patient list.  Instead, they made me feel so special that it seemed like I was the only patient they had.  Not only did these two women do their work professionally, they also put a lot of love into it and that made all the difference.  I felt very fortunate I was able to have my first child in this great facility with these nurses, but the story does not end here.  I became friends with them and Stacey Pack was the first Baby sitter we ever had for my son.
When I found out that I was pregnant with our second child, I was hoping I would be able to deliver at the women’s center again…and I did.  But not only did that hope become reality, I was also welcomed by Rhonda Witt at the Door with the words “ I was waiting for you girlfriend”.  I cannot even explain how this made me feel.  Soon after I got there Stacey Pack showed up, even though she was on vacation at the time.
So here I was almost two years later in the very same delivery room with the same two nurses and the same amazing doctor, Doctor Anderson, who could not have done a better job.  It almost felt unreal.  I thought this story was too good to be true!  Of course I will always remember the days my babies were born, but Stacey Pack and Rhonda Witt made it so much more special.  One of them worked an 18 hour shift for the birth of my baby girl, and the other one came in on her free day to be there for me.  I wish we could all put more passion and love in our daily lives just like these two did.  We might even change lives with it.  These two women did and I am forever grateful to them.  Thank you so much Stacey and Rhonda and thank you Tuomey Women’s Center.
My husband and I will move to Germany in a few days and we are taking with us the two most precious souvenirs both born in the greatest hospital with the best staff in the world.
